Senior Technical Support Analyst

We are working with a globally recognised investment banking institution that is looking for an experienced Application Support Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role will focus on providing comprehensive technical support for trading applications used by the organisation. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of these critical platforms, ensuring seamless operations on the trading floor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level technical support for all trading applications and interfaces within the organisation.
  • Offer expert support for 3rd party applications utilised in trading operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for incident management, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution of critical issues impacting trading activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical application integrity issues affecting real-time trading.
  • Collaborate with business teams to address queries and resolve issues related to trading and market operations.
  • Monitor application alerts, proactively addressing issues to minimise disruptions to trading activities.
  • Support the roll-out of new features and enhancements to trading applications, ensuring smooth integration into production environments.
  • Adhere to ITIL best practices for incident management, problem resolution, and change management.
  • Maintain technical documentation for trading applications and related systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and security standards to minimise operational risk.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external audit teams to ensure smooth audit activities.
  • Perform regular health checks and maintenance activities to ensure the availability and performance of trading applications.
  • Identify and implement improvements in application and interface performance.
  
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting financial markets, trading systems, or investment management applications.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in 2nd/3rd level technical support, specifically for trading applications.
  • Strong experience (4+ years) with SQL Server, including performing advanced database maintenance tasks such as replication and backups.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting tools for supporting trading platforms.
  • Familiarity with monitoring technologies, particularly BMC NetIQ and MS SCOM.
  • Degree qualification in Computer Science or a related field.
  
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in trading floor operations and understanding the demands of real-time trading environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, ensuring high system availability during market hours.
