Financial Accountant – 12-Month Contract Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced accountant with strong payroll skills for a 12-month contract with a respected not-for-profit aged care organisation. This hands-on Financial Accountant role will cover maternity leave and support critical payroll and finance functions.
You’ll take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing, including interpreting EBAs, and manage key accounting tasks such as reconciliations, asset register maintenance, and aged care billing. This is a great opportunity to contribute to system improvements and process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities - Manage full payroll cycle, including EBA interpretation and payroll reporting
- Perform General Ledger reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
- Process aged care billings, Medicare summaries, and means-tested fees
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset register, supporting AMP development
- Assist with monthly and quarterly management accounts, including P&L statements
- Support month-end and year-end close processes and external audits
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulations
- Collaborate with finance team on project delivery and provide backfill support

About You - 3–5 years’ hands-on accounting experience, including payroll processing
- Comfortable interpreting EBAs and managing complex payroll tasks
- Experience in asset management and aged care billing is highly desirable
- A self-starter who thrives on meeting deadlines and learning new systems quickly
- CPA/CA qualification is a bonus but not essential
- Experience with Employment Hero is advantageous
